Hello everyone! I am a sophomore (junior?) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout studying professional communications and emerging media with a concentration in journalism. I plan to work in the public relations, social media, or marketing field in the future, after I am done at UW-Stout. I love reading, meeting new people, hanging out with animals, DIYs, and watching TV shows. I am creating this blog site for one of my current classes, Women and Gender Studies. We are supposed to showcase our curiosity and critical thinking about a topic connected to the course material.
I chose this topic in specific because I had a lot of issues dealing with my body image when I was younger and I still think about how that took a toll on my life to this day. I still have issues about my body image now, but since I am older, I am more educated about life and have learned a lot about being myself and not caring what others think. It takes a lot of time to get from a position of hating yourself and what you look like to accepting who you are and embracing your differences.
